Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults

(RCIA) is the program through which a non-baptized person or a baptized Christian of another faith is received into the Roman Catholic Church. It is also for Catholics who never received the Sacraments of Eucharist and/or Confirmation. Catholic adults who have already received the Sacraments of Initiation may also attend RCIA classes to learn more about the teachings of the
Catholic Faith, or have questions answered.

Anyone interested in learning more about the church and perhaps participating fully in the Church are invited to contact Tracy Downs by email st.eleanor.religiouseducation@gmail.com

Families of unbaptized children should enroll in the Family Formation program for the first year of catechesis; then child will be enrolled in RCIA classes for the next 2 years. If child is ready, in the third year he/she will receive the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and First Holy Communion at the Easter Vigil Mass. Readiness for the Sacraments is determined by testing/ conversation with the child, as well as by demonstrated good attendance in classes and at the weekly Mass. Child will be expected to have age-appropriate knowledge about the faith and have learned prayers, sacraments and 10 commandments as a minimum. It is hoped that parents will continue to bring their child (especially younger children) for continued catechesis after the reception of the sacraments so that child will continue to grow in their faith and knowledge and relationship with Jesus and the church.
