Confirmation preparation is a two-year process. These classes are for 7thgrade (or of equivalent age) to be enrolled in Confirmation 1

Confirmation Requirements

+ Youth must regularly participate in mass and attend all class sessions.

 

+ Confirmation 1 students must attend at least a one-day retreat. Confirmation 2 students must attend a 2-day retreat. The parish will offer retreats which meet the requirements.


+ Students will be required to fulfill 10 hours of community service. Service within the parish community is preferred, but student can do outside community service on approval. there may be, in addition, group community service projects for the student to participate in.


+ Students must find a sponsor who meets all requirements (At least 16 years of age, Baptized and Confirmed practicing Catholic, not a parent of the child, able to receive Holy Communion, living a life in conformity of the faith [i.e., if single-not cohabitating, if married- in a valid Catholic marriage]). It is the responsibility of sponsor to get their affidavit signed by their Parish Priest and stamped and sealed by the Parish Office, before student turns in sponsor form. Sponsors should be people with whom the confirmand has a relationship expected to continue throughout their life. in that case the Parish will help to find a suitable sponsor. Sponsors will be required to attend some sessions with their student.


+ Students must receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation within a reasonable time before being present for Confirmation.


+Baptismal and 1st Holy Communion certificate for child must be received or located within our parish records before he or she receives the Sacrament of Confirmation.
